New Updates

***REMINDER – Time out of training (TOOT)***

We would like to remind all trainees and trainers that the maximum permitted absence from training, other than annual leave is 20 days within each 12 month period of the foundation programme. Where a doctors absence goes above 20 days this will trigger a review of whether they need to have an extra period of training.

New video resource for foundation trainees

A new video for all foundation trainees, foundation schools and trusts, helping them to understand more about the Foundation Programme Charter, has been shared.

UKFPO and NACT UK Sharing Best Practice day: Thursday 17th March 2022

The UKFPO and NACT UK  are again hosting the annual ‘Sharing Best Practice’ day on Thursday 17th March 2022 at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, Birmingham.  (This will hopefully be a face to face meeting).

Previous year’s evaluation from the delegates suggested that having the Foundation School “Best Educational Innovation“ was much appreciated and worked well. In view of this we would like to ask you to nominate your top project of 2021/22 to share and present at this meeting and encourage Foundation doctors to share best practice too.

Submissions are welcome from anyone involved in supporting the training of foundation doctors

We will be short listing the abstracts submitted for poster presentations as well.

Please find attached the registration form (Reg Form FPSE) and flyer (FP Sharing Call for papers).

Foundation ALS Update

We can confirm that Trusts can continue to claim the costs of ALS courses for their Foundation trainees from the study leave budget for the 2021/22 financial year. ALS courses can currently be reimbursed up to a maximum of £400 per Foundation trainee.

Please note that from 1st January 2022, ALS courses will only be reimbursed up to a maximum of £275 per trainee.

As in the previous financial year we will not be providing bulk payments for these courses. Instead, we request that you claim for these courses once they are delivered via the locally-delivered tab on your study leave monthly return. Please note the usual rules for locally-delivered claims will apply – only trainees in a HEE-registered Foundation training programme can be reimbursed.
