The Foundation Programme is a two-year generic training programme designed for medical school graduates. The programme forms the bridge between medical school and core training.  It is designed to give Foundation Doctors a range of experience before choosing an area of medicine in which to specialise and delivers an integrated educational programme with defined outcomes.

The Foundation School co-ordinates the allocation processes to Foundation Year 1 and Foundation Year 2 and supports the delivery of Foundation Training and the development of Foundation Doctors. 

The foundation school is committed to providing high-quality Foundation Training in all our linked Trusts and works within the General Medical Council Standards for Training for the Foundation Programme.
