HEE seeks focus group participants: Widening Participation in the Foundation Programme

HEE is seeking the views of foundation trainees in England from a lower socio-economic background or who identify as having personal characteristics that are under-represented in medicine.

If this describes you, we would like to invite you to one of our focus groups taking place across England in February this year.

Following a national review of the Foundation Programme, HEE has publicly committed to “develop and consult on policy options to support Widening Participation initiatives for graduates entering the Foundation Programme”.

Focus group findings will help to shape national policy for reducing inequality for foundation trainees. Dates, times and locations are as follows:

  • 12th February 2020, 12:30 – 14:30 – Stewart House Events Centre, London, WC1B 5DN
  • 18th February 2020, 10:00 – 12:00 – Stewart House Events Centre, London, WC1B 5DN
  • 20th February 2020, 11:00 – 13:00 – Sheffield Town Hall, Sheffield, S1 2HH

  • 27th February 2020, 11:00 – 13:00 – Novotel Southampton, Southampton, SO15 1RA

This is an opportunity to share your experiences, to highlight any challenges that you have experienced during the early stages of postgraduate training, and to put forward your suggestions for improvement.

While these focus groups will explore the experiences of trainees in English Foundation Schools, the programme team are happy to discuss our approach with anyone who is interested in running similar research / surveys in the other home nations.
